The Copper IUD is long-acting reversible contraceptive method used by more than 150 million women worldwide. This method is the most effective birth control on the market. IUDs are small T-shaped device inserted by health care professionals in the uterus.

How does it work?

  • Copper IUD: The presence of a foreign body, namely the intrauterine device itself, creating a hostile environment which makes it possible to avoid pregnancies.
  • The intrauterine device is implanted in the uterus by a health care professional. It is a fairly simple in clinic procedure, taking only a few minutes where no anesthesia is necessary.
  • Depending of the IUD model chosen, the devise can stay in place for 5 to 10 years before it needs to be replaced.
